Tallow

Collect mine drippings.
Make a pudding
downed with a hearty dram.

May my hard fats
please your pallet,
make a stronger man.

We both are tallow
to the God hallowed
keep his flame from flicking
grievous living quickly wicking

Burnt to naught but nub
heat hovers above
For a moment in the dark,
lighted, stand, stiff and stark
grievous scene displayed
churl engulfed in flames

My suet to soot
To warm thy foot,
gentle family and hearth.
Flesh curls and cracks,
bones blacken and snap.
I am leaving Earth.
